Dr. Carreno earned a B.S. in Zoology at the University of Toronto, a M.S. in Biology at Lakehead University and a Ph.D. at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. He then did two years of postdoctoral research at the University of Guelph and comes to OWU directly from another two years of postdoctoral research at the University of California-Davis. Recent research has focused on the systematics of nematodes parasitic in mammals, based on a project that was funded by the National Science Foundation. Other research interests include diagnostic parasitology, as well as genotyping and systematics of other eukaryotic parasitic organisms. Research approaches incorporate morphological methods (light and electron microscopy), as well as molecular biological techniques (PCR, cloning, and DNA sequencing). He is the author of more than thirty articles, reports, and book chapters and is fluent in French, German, and Spanish. Currently, Dr. Carreno serves as Ohio Wesleyan's Pre-Veterinary Medicine program advisor. Recent Publications: Carreno, R.A. 2007. Description of a new species of Thelastoma
